The association is comprised of certified instructors of hand-knitting, lace making, patchwork quilt, painting, pressed flower, hand weaving, leather craft, calligraphy, and home-sewing. It aims to spread handicraft culture and to train instructors.
Its predecessor association, Vogue Handicraft Consultation Association founded in 1964, held 24 days of handicraft instructors training programs per year for five years and trained over 4,000 instructors.
The association’s achievements were highly acclaimed by the Education Ministry in 1969, and since then we have operated as Japan Handicraft Instructors Association with our main foundations of cultivation and development of handicraft instructors.
Upon the government’s reformation of public-interest corporation system, our association was officially recognized as a public interest incorporated foundation by the prime minister in 2012.
